The weekend of July 24th will host three different Spec MX-5 Challenge events throughout the United States. GingerMan Raceway, COTA and Road Atlanta will be ready for racers region wide. Although all races will feature un-rivalled competition, Road Atlanta will bring unique opportunities from the team at Mazda Motorsports.
Spec MX-5 Challenge racers arrive in Wisconsin ready to compete at Road America. The second event weekend of the North Central region will feature two split-start races and host 11 drivers from July 10-11, 2021.
Southeast and Northeast regional racers brought the speed and sound this past Independence Day, making their mark on North America’s most iconic track. In the second crossover event of the season Spec MX-5 Challenge series racers looked to make their mark and boy, did they deliver.
Last year’s Sonoma races gave us the closest finish in Spec MX-5 Challenge history. This year, history was made once more.
Spec MX-5’s trip to the historic WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca did not disappoint. Built in the late 1950s this track has become synonymous with speed and rhythm. Located between Salina and Monterey, California the paved track has 180 feet of elevation with 11-turns. Arguably the most iconic part of this speedway is the “Corkscrew,” at turns 8 and 8A where drivers are challenged to react fast and maintain control.
