Weekends at Road America never disappoint.
Aidan Fassnacht and Justin Piscitell were this weekend’s big winners, with Fassnacht coming first in race one and Piscitell in race two. Both drivers brought home the win after securing pole position for their respected race.
As usual Spec MX-5 Challenge brought close competition, with one battle for third fighting to the finish. In race two, Grant West gave Fassnacht a run for his money. Throughout the race these two competitors passed each other back and fourth, but it seemed to be West’s day…up until the final moments. West, who was leading the third spot on the last lap, could not hold-on as Fassnacht used the draft to overcome his competitor giving him his second podium of the weekend.

Although a successful weekend for some, Road America brought heartbreak for others. Series favorite, Michael Borden, struggled following a great test and qualifying. On his first lap of race one, Borden’s car did not feel right causing him to come off-track resulting in a DNF. The problem was found and in turn, Borden and his team at Advanced Autosport got the car ready to challenge in race two. At the end of race two, Borden found himself comfortably in seventh place. Not the weekend Borden imagine, but a great effort from the team.

Whether elation or heartbreak, Road America did not disappoint.
