Million, Allen On Front Row For Championship Race One

Matt Million set the pace on Friday at Road Atlanta, turning the fastest lap in qualifying and will start the Spec MX-5 Challenge Championship on the pole for Saturday’s race.

Million laid back from a gaggle of cars in the 20-minute session and used the draft to get a tow to the front with a best lap of 1:46.016. Million enters the doubleheader finale with 18 points, behind four other competitors after finishing the Central regular season third.

Starting along Million in the front row is John Allen, from the East Series. Allen turned a lap of 1:46.454 in the iRacing/Defined Autoworks Mazda MX-5.

Tom Martin, Noah Grey, Jason Connole and Manny Martinez make up the next two rows on the grid. Martin and Connole both hold the maximum 20 points entering the doubleheader.

Each of Saturday and Sunday’s races 13-lap races will combine for two-thirds of the Championship points, with 20 points to each race winner, 19 for second, 18 for third, etc., through the end of the field.
